Multi-Race Mathematics Board Game

Factors and multiplication board gameThis is a simple 'Track' game which encourages children to practice multiplication problems. There is a very strong focus on identifying factors and  (as usual) on the accurate use of vocabulary.

The downloadable pdf file includes two boards and teachers' notes - with 10 alternative modes of play!

The numbers chosen for the board reflect those 'tough' times tables, 6 times, 7 times, 8 times and 9 times; with a few other multiplication facts added for variety. However, the download* includes a blank board so teachers can easily adapt the game to suit any specific needs.

Here's the five page pdf - two multiplication game boards and information for teachers.

Great. I'm going to use this

Great. I'm going to use this tomorrow with my Year 4s, offering a multiplication grid as support for those who find times tables challenging. It looks like a great opportunity to practice finding factors of numbers. Thank you.

I like this - really visual - and I particularly like some of the variation ideas which will allow me to stretch the higher achievers more - also being able to add own numbers on to the blank board is a great addition. Thank you

Thank you for another great

Thank you for another great resource. I use games constantly in my classroom as they are a fantastic way to engage kids. They are also highly motivating and most of all the kids think its terrific that they are not 'doing' maths during maths, but just playing games. Little do they know! But of course we always tease the maths out - either during play or during the plenary. This game is really useful because it is one that can just be pulled out constantly to reinforce knowledge of times tables, and the blank board can be designed to have tables specifically based on the particular needs of a student. Well done and thanks again.

I don't seem to be able to get my class interested in doing times tables and no matter how much I rant on about how much they need to use them in life they are just nit interested. Stick a game infront of them and hey presto they want to learn. Thank you

dr1506, thanks for the comment - I suppose this proves the old adage: "the learning's in the game"... ok, that's not an old adage (I just made it up), but it sounds like it should be.

Good to hear the mathematics games here are so useful.
