mathsticks Toolbar
It's easy to lose touch with old friends.
However, losing touch completely is not such a good idea, if you are looking for a good maths resource or lesson idea you may well think of mathsticks.com. I hope so!
We'll continue to publish a host of new mathematical games, resources and lesson ideas, so we are also developing lots of ways to keep in touch. We already have twitter, a 2go app and our very own RSS feed, but here's one more that we hope you will like:
We've 'teamed up' with conduit.com to create a useful set of tools you can add to your browser. The mathsticks toolbar doesn't take up much space on your browser and offers you a big package of extras:
1. a quick way to search the mathsticks site without even coming here!

2. direct links to twitter (mathsticks' own tweets, of course, plus a few others I think you will enjoy). Yes, you can easily change these links to point to your own favourite tweeters!

3. instant access to all our latest resources

4. direct access to all our stage-specific mathematical resources

5. private access to a series of special resources. This is a perk just for our toolbar users: a regularly updated list of maths games and resources not available on our main site, and a number of editable doc versions too: Squashy Boxes and Shape Taboo Words, for example.

6. direct links to a fantastic range of mathematics-teaching videos from teachers tv - some thought provoking stuff here (wherever you work, and whatever age you teach). This is an automatically updated feed from teachers tv.

7. a number of useful gadgets: unit converter, wikipedia search, dictionary, calculator, notes, to do list, a number of fun games, and access to Labpixies TV and YouTube's Top 10. We've searched for the most useful, relevant, and/or fun... you can remove any of these, or add new ones too, if you wish!

8. much, much more... those nice people at conduit have made sure this smart toolbar gizmo is totally customisable. You can remove any element you don't use, or add your own social links, shortcuts, gadgets, games, bookmarks, whatever... there's even a clock and radio! It won't make tea for you yet (but you can probably 'tweet' someone who could).

9. Plus - mathsticks will be updating the toolbar content regularly (RSS feeds update automatically, of coure).
What's the catch?
Well, there isn't one... really!
If you don't like any part of the toolbar you can remove it - or you can remove the toolbar as a whole. We'd like you to keep it, and to use it... that's why we're working hard to make it as useful as possible.
What about Adware or Viruses?
The toolbar is guaranteed not to contain any malicious code or allow any unwanted activity to take place on your computer. Conduit, build and update the toolbar for us and their security and privacy policies are excellent.
What's in it for mathsticks?
Good question. Conduit reward us for every toolbar that is downloaded and used. Yes, we get paid for letting you use something that is useful and free; we get a tiny fraction of a dollar each time a mathsticks member downloads and uses the toolbar. If 100 of our members use the toolbar we will be able to pay about 1% of our monthly charges for keeping this site online.
In short, if you use the toolbar you will be helping to keep mathsticks afloat.
How do I get the toolbar?
Click the banner below, or go directly to www.mathsticks.ourtoolbar.com.
You will be taken to the conduit website to download the toolbar. After that, follow the instructions on screen - you may be asked to close down your browser to install the toolbar. Then, you can start exploring!
