3 Digit Squashy Boxes
If you are playing a mathematical game, or looking to create numbers for calculation problems, the original Squashy Boxes provided an efficient solution. However, they were limited to one and two-digit numbers. This design extends the original to 3-Digit numbers, and is perfect for developing children's skills with higher numbers; whether that's recognising them, or calculating with them.
Each 'box' in this design features six columns of numbers, once folded and stuck together they can be manipulated to show 60 different 3-Digit numbers. The grids are slightly smaller than the previous design, as befits the age of the children using them.
Make up the boxes as follows:
- Print the template onto thin card.
- Protect them with tacky-back plastic, if you wish.
- Score and fold along all of the vertical lines
Fold in half and glue the tab behind the first column
to create a flat tube that can be manipulated to show different faces.
The pdf download* includes six different templates and a further two blank ones. There are no teachers notes here – see the original Squashy Box download for activity ideas.
